Hello, my name is Maura Bauer. I am excited to be your 8th grade English Language Arts teacher this school year.

 

This is my fourth year at Algona Middle School. I grew up in Boonville, Missouri and graduated with my Masters Degree in Education from Northwest Christian College. After four years teaching in Oregon, I moved back to the Midwest to be closer to my family. I love books, coffee, rainy days, and my Boston Terrier. 

I am passionate about helping students discover and grow their inner readers and writers. As a teacher, my goal is to help students develop a love of both reading and writing in order to enhance their abilities to be strong thinkers and communicators. During my classes, I expect students to take responsibility for their own learning, to be secure in the eighth grade skills by the end of the year, and I will do whatever I can to make that a reality for each student.
