1. Today we continued working on our proofreading marks during the bellringer.

2. We returned to the poem "Paul Revere's Ride" and paraphrased each stanza using a graphic organizer/chart.

3. We discussed changes to the short answer writing formula RACE (click for notes). This year we are using RICE, an acronym which stands for:

- Restate the question in the Answer

- Introduce the evidence (direct quotes should be integrated seamlessly into sentences)

- Cite evidence & its source (we talked about the format & punctuation of quotations)

- Explain your reasoning (how does your evidence support your answer?)

4. We also found the quotations resource page in our student workbooks (Quotations in Your Writing) that can be used anytime we are writing either short answer questions or research writing.
