1. We continued practicing Homophones with our bellringer this morning. Quiz on Friday.

2. Next, we watched a video by a Nigerian author on the "Danger of the Single Story." (click for video) We discussed how a single story is created and what the "danger" is. Then we decided the way to reject the single story is to listen to many, many stories. From various perspectives and voices, in order to gain a more complete picture.

3. Finally, we started our novel, Chains. We read chapters 1-3 (pages 3-23).

4. Today is our first advisory meeting from 1:48-3:30pm. We did an icebreaker, nominated classmates for 8th grade Student Council, and worked on our banner for Homecoming. The theme this year is "Road Trip: Road to Victory." Band students met for extra practice and the rest of us had "flex time" - an open study where students have access to any of their core teachers.
