1. We finished the week's practice for nouns and verbs and the quiz is tomorrow. For the test you need to know:

- what is a noun?

- what is a verb?

- only verbs can change tense (past, present, future), so you can use that trick to

identify a verb

- when identifying a noun ask the following questions: 1) is a person, place, or thing? 2)

can you put the word "the" in front of it 3) can you own it?

2. Today we reviewed/finished the annotations for Zinn's chapter "Tyranny is Tyranny." We discussed the purpose of annotations, which is to improve comprehension. It's not just about the underlining, but the summaries force you to really understand each section. I collected the chapter to look at annotations and to keep it safe until the research paper at the end of the unit.

3. We finished class with Chains. I read aloud chapters 10-13 (pages 62-84) and we watch Isabel take her first steps as a spy for the Patriots. No questions or notes over today's reading.
