Tuesday, 10-10
1. Today we continued reviewing types of verbs with IXL Level G (5th grade) D.1 Main Verbs and Helping Verbs. We worked on this skill for 10 minutes or 100% proficiency - which ever came first.
2. Today we are ready to start working on our 2nd research paragraph (remember your final draft for your Oppressed Country paragraph is due Wed at 3:30pm). We started with a poem by Rita Dove called "The Abduction." It is a true story about Solomon Northrup, the same guy our new research paragraph is going to be about!
3. We turned to page 37 in our pink workbooks and learned how to use the website credibility checklist. We practiced using the checklist with two sites: www.grantshost.com and www.aspca.org.
4. Then we turned our newfound credibility checklist skills to the interwebs and found at least one credible website with information about Solomon Northrup. We gathered 8-10 facts about his life and abduction, and then rushed to our writing notebooks to begin brainstorming & planning our new paragraphs.
