1. Today we reviewed linking verbs and talked about predicate adjectives and predicate nouns. When the linking verb links the subject of the sentence to an adjective, we call that adjective a predicate adjective. When the linking verb links the subject of a sentence to another noun, we call that noun a predicate noun. We used IXL Level H (6th grade) D.3 to practice finding linking verbs and the predicate adjectives (PA) and predicate nouns (PN) they link to.

2. Today we are on Day 2 of our Solomon Northup research paragraph. Our goals today are to find a credible website (complete a credibility checklist), complete a source card for that site, and to gather our research. Remember to focus your research around Northup's abduction and years trapped as a slave in the south.

3. When your research is completed, head back to your writer's notebook and begin the Write Tools paragraph routine. 1) TAK the prompt 2) Stop & Think about the evidence your found 3) Brainstorm how your evidence fits together, group similar ideas together 4) Make a plan using a T-chart planner

4. Remember to turn in final drafts of your Oppressed Country research paragraphs on Schoology. The assignment is titled "Final Draft - Oppressed Country research."
