Fri 12/01: Whitman and Lincoln (part 2)

1. We started class with our Subjects and Predicates quiz.

2. We then discussed the meaning of author's tone and the role diction plays in identifying it. We practiced writing sentences in different tones, and then analyzed "O Captain! My Captain!" for the diction and tone Whitman used.

3. Finally, we tried our hand at writing an original ode like Whitman. Completed poems are typed and submitted on Google Classroom. (Click here for today's notes).
