Position Paper (Tue./Wed.)

On Friday of last week we received the prompt for our Unit 3 Final Assessment: Position Paper on the Vietnam War. We read and analyzed the prompt and created list of reasons the US should and should not have gotten involved in the Vietnam War.

Tuesday

We read a model position position paper for the gist and then reread it with partners to get the gist of each paragraph.

We used a position paper planner to analyze the model position paper for its claim, reasons, counterclaim, and evidence.

Wednesday

We finished analyzing the model position paper and determining the structure and characteristics of a strong position paper.

We then used a blank position paper planner to plan out our own claim, reasons, counterclaim, and evidence based off the reasons chart we created on Friday.
