Position Paper (Wed. 4/4 - Fri. 4/6)

Apr 4, 2018
1 min read

Welcome to the 74th day of January! Hopefully spring will arrive soon and we can end these snow days and late starts. For this week, however, we're going to have to make do.

Wednesday, periods 4/5 and 6/7 meet and will finish our position paper rough drafts. We'll look at the model position paper's conclusion paragraph and then draft our own. Period 1/3 will have to make this up on Thursday during class.

Thursday, we'll type up our paper, making any revisions or edits as we go. We'll also create a Works Cited page based on the sources each student chose to use in their paper. You can just copy the Unit 3 Works Cited page format for your sources.

Friday is the last day we'll spend in class on the position paper. We'll complete some revision read alouds, first to ourselves, and then to a partner. The second half of the block is spent with a two-part editing checklist. The first part is a self-checklist and the second part is for a peer. Students can choose a classmate, friend, family, or other adult to read through their paper and help them find and correct errors in spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and grammar.

Final drafts will be due by the end of the day Wednesday, April 11th.
