Learning Targets:

  • I can analyze the narrative structure of pages 20-22 of Speak

  • I can objectively summarize pages 20-22 of Speak

Agenda:

  1. We started class with sorting vocabulary words from our Speak Structured Notes into positive and negative connotations.

  2. We then reviewed the elements of Narrative Structure (exposition, rising action, climax, resolution) and analyzed the structure of the chapter "Friends" on pages 20-22 using a Narrative Structure Graphic Organizer.

  3. We then analyzed why the Narrative Structure is important by looking at the job of each of the plot elements in the story.

  4. We finished up by using our Narrative Structure graphic organizer to write a summary of the chapter "Friends." The summary can be submitted online on Google Classroom or on paper in the class turn-in drawer. Summary is due by the end of the day Tuesday.
