L13: Analyzing Narrative Structure (Wed. 4/25)

Learning Targets

  • I can support my inferences of Speak with the strongest text evidence.

  • I can summarize the chapter "Acting" of Speak.

  • I can use context clues to determine the meaning of phrases in Speak.

Agenda:

  1. First, we analyzed the narrative structure of the chapter "Acting" on pages 32-35 with our Albany discussion partners.

  2. Then, on our own, we used the narrative structure graphic organizer (we created one in our writing journals) to write a summary of the chapter. The assignment is posted on Google Classroom.

  3. Next, we added to our Melinda Note-catchers from lesson 9. With our Albany partners we added an example of how others treat Melinda, the page number the example was found on, and what it reveals about Melinda's character.

  4. Homework: Read pages 49-57 of Speak and complete the Structured Notes.
