Learning Targets:

• I can compare and contrast the structure of "Giving Thanks" of Speak and "Those Winter Sundays."

• I can analyze how the structures of "Giving Thanks" of Speak and Those Winter Sundays" affect meaning.

Agenda:

1. With our Buffalo discussion partners, we created a Narrative Structure graphic organizer in our writing journals and analyzed the "Giving Thanks" chapter of Speak (pages 57-61).

2. We completed a close reading of the poem "Those Winter Sundays" by Thomas Hayden, and then we analyze the structure of the poem.

3. We compared and contrasted the meaning, the structure, and how the structure contributed to the meaning of both texts.

4. No reading homework tonight.
